Supply Chain Management

Productive internal client relationships a key to success

Top CPOs (Chief Procurement Officers) know the importance of elevating the supply management function to operate as a Strategic Business Partner (Whitepaper by Dave Nelson and Nancy Q. Smith – CPO Perspective on Strategic Business Partnerships).  EP can help supply management organizations foster more productive internal client relationships.

Here’s one client’s feedback regarding our work together:

EP did a masterful job of diagnosis, recommendations and skill building for our procurement team.  So many transformational initiatives are focused on the efficiency of our functions, but our goal isn’t to become the cheapest function. Rather, our goal is to be a world class function that delivers the highest level of effectiveness at the right cost.  EP is helping us to become valued business partners with our internal clients.

After a recent 90 minute discussion with a key internal client, he told our procurement team “This is the first conversation I’ve ever had with you at a strategic level.  I feel that you now understand what I’m really solving for and in the process we’ve identified three new areas for our partnership.”  This is a major shift from our traditional sourcing engagements.
